EA General Assembly Held in Vienna

EA Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary at the General Assembly

The 59th General Assembly of the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) was held in Vienna, hosted by the Austrian Accreditation Body.
The meeting took place with the participation of senior representatives from 45 national accreditation bodies.

During the General Assembly sessions:

- The EA 2030 Strategy was approved. The Strategy covers addressing challenges in digitalisation and sustainability, increasing stakeholder involvement, promoting agility and innovation in accreditation services, ensuring stronger alignment with EU policy objectives and global developments, and securing the resources needed for the development of regulations.

- It was decided to launch new work on the revision of EA-2/02 M, the procedure for the evaluation of national accreditation bodies.

- The mandatory application of ISO/IEC 42006:2025 for the accreditation of organisations in the field of Artificial Intelligence Management Systems was approved, and the standard was designated as a level 4 document.

In addition, issues relating to the revision of Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 on accreditation and market surveillance were discussed. It was underlined that EA supports maintaining the core principles of the Regulation and that the requirement for a single national accreditation body in each Member State remains of critical importance.

At the end of the meeting, EA’s 25th anniversary was also celebrated. As part of the celebrations, a video including a speech by TÜRKAK Secretary General Banu Müderrisoğlu was shown.
