On the occasion of World Accreditation Day, celebrated this year under the theme “Accreditation: Empowering SMEs to Access Global Markets,” TÜRKLAB organized a special webinar featuring TÜRKAK Secretary General Banu Müderrisoğlu, Deputy Director General for Product Safety and Inspection at the Ministry of Trade M. Halil Madazlı, and Chairman of the Board of A&T Laboratories Çağatay Turan.

In her remarks, Secretary General Müderrisoğlu underlined the advantages of accreditation in terms of reliability, international recognition, and compliance with regulations.
Summarizing the role of accreditation in market access, Müderrisoğlu noted that accreditation offers opportunities not only for global corporations but also for SMEs:
“Accreditation is a major advantage for SMEs. Because competition is not just about price—it is also about trust. Accreditation opens the doors to trust.”
Comparing accreditation to the slingshot stone David used against Goliath, she added:
“For SMEs, accreditation is the key to challenging larger companies. If used correctly, it can hit the target right on point.”
Müderrisoğlu also shared insights into TÜRKAK’s efforts to facilitate SMEs’ access to accreditation through initiatives focused on digitalization, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and accessibility, stating:
“We hope that our SMEs will walk hand in hand with us by building trustworthy and transparent systems and by investing in science and knowledge.”
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Trade, Deputy Director General M. Halil Madazlı discussed the role of accreditation in the development of SMEs and the growth of exports. He provided data showing the rapid advancement of Türkiye’s quality infrastructure and export capacity following the establishment of TÜRKAK in 1999, in the aftermath of the 1995 Customs Union Agreement.
Representing the service export sector, Çağatay Turan, Chairman of the Board at A&T Laboratories, emphasized that accreditation should be seen not as a cost but as an investment, and noted:
“Türkiye is rapidly advancing toward becoming a test center for Europe.”
Supporting the safe and sustainable access of SMEs to global markets remains one of TÜRKAK’s top priorities
